Bye Bye Birdie

As some of you know, I recently returned from a trip to ZImbabwe and Zambia. I had a great trip. This time of year in those countries can be a little light on major animal sightings. It's still not quite dry enough to bring out the regular suspects like big cats looking for water as often as one might like. So when things are slow, you fill your time with whatever is around - and often that means birds. Lots of birds. Which is great for me, because I love shooting them. I don't consider myself a "birder",  but I do get pretty excited about the challenge of  photographing them in flight, and you can fill up your day spotting them and observing. I was glad to see a wide variety of birds, but I spent a lot of time watching bee eaters. These birds are incredibly fast, acrobatic, and remarkably accurate while catching insects. You'll se a bunch in here. Well, enjoy some of my favorite bird images from the trip. All of them are captioned - and if you click on any of the pix you can bring it to full size and click through the slideshow.
